Defibrillator

The village has a defibrillator which is located on the corner of Church Lane in the phone box, next to the post box. Its precise What3Words location is ditching.cheering.earlobe

Use a defibrillator, also known as an AED (automated external defibrillator), when someone is in cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest happens when the heart stops beating normally.

When to use
  • When someone is unresponsive and not breathing normally
  • When someone has suddenly collapsed or fainted

How to use
  • Call 999
  • Start CPR
  • Find a defibrillator
  • Follow the instructions on the defibrillator
  • Use the defibrillator alongside CPR until help arrives

Safety
Don't use an AED on someone who is wet or lying on a wet surface
If someone is submerged in water, move them to dry land before using the AED
Remove the person's shirt and dry their skin before applying the AED pads

Benefits
Using a defibrillator and CPR together can improve the chances of survival. The sooner the heartbeat is restored, the greater the chance of avoiding permanent brain and organ damage.
