Potato Competition Instructions
One seed potato is given to each member at the February meeting (or soon after if not in attendance)
The seed potato should be chitted and then planted in a bag or large pot to make harvesting the crop easy
Potatoes are harvested on or near to a date given in July and the weight recorded and sent to the Secretary.
Weights are collated by the Secretary and the winning weight is published.
A £10 prize is given to the winner, who also provides the seed potatoes for the following year’s competition.

Christmas Decoration Competition
The competition will be held at the December meeting and is open to all members. Members can submit one or more entries. Entries can be any form of decoration; wreaths, swags, table centre, arrangement etc. and can be made from fresh and/or artificial foliage, flowers and festive ornaments. Entries will be displayed anonymously on a side table, with an entry number card. Each member will be able to vote for two entries by fixing a sticky spot on the numbered card. The winning entry will be the one with the most spots and a small prize will be awarded. The secretary will organise the competition and be responsible for providing the prize. |
Photographic Competition
Members can enter a maximum of two photographs which must have been taken in the last year.
The photo should have a horticultural theme, but does not have to be a flower or plant. It could be a garden ornament, water feature, old wheelbarrow, wellington boots, water pump etc and does not have to be from your own garden.
Entries can be printed and should be postcard size and brought to the show.
Also digital entries can be made by sending them to the club email address by the given deadline: [email protected]
Members will be asked to vote for their chosen two photos at the Spring Show, by placing a sticky dot on the card next to the image or image number in the case of digital entries.
All photos will be posted on the gardening club website after the show and the winning entry will be used as the cover image for the following year’s programme booklet.
